Seattle, Washington USA
Steven Jones' career in the balloon world began as a twister in 1996. After attending his first International Balloon Arts Convention (IBAC) in 1997, he knew his future would lie with decor. He shifted focus at this time, all the while he continued to use his twisting skills to augment and add value to his classic decor elements. Little did he know his name would become psynonemous with this concept of "deco-twisting", a term he himself coined and would later be adopted into the language of the balloon world.
Since those early days, Steven has won nearly 30 awards in the balloon industry for his design work, artistry and leadership. Most significantly Steven was awarded the title of Designer of the Year in 2005 by burton + BURTON at their then annual Ballooniversity convention. Then just over one week later, Steven took home top honors at Balloon Summer Camp with his Large Sculpture entry taking First Place by the largest margin in the convention's history.
In addition to being an award-winning designer, Steven has also developed a reputation as an educator. He has taught classes around the globe, created and produced nearly 100 full-length DVDs as part of the now iconic AeraDeco Video line of educational videos and most notably serves as the executive producer of FLOAT, the single largest independent balloon convention in the United States.
Steven currently resides near Seattle, Washington, and co-owns Balloon Designers with his partner and friend, Alexa Rivera.
