With FLOAT offering general classes, Master Classes and bonus classes, apparently this has led to a bit of confusion among some of you. Some think they're all free, others think they all have additional costs involved, and still others blend the two ideas together! So let's take a moment to explain how these all work so you can best plan for the 2015 FLOAT Convention.
What are they? These are the 90-minute classes that are offered at ten (10) different intervals throughout the FLOAT Convention. Four sessions are held on Monday, February 2, four are held on Tuesday, February 3, and two are held on Wednesday, February 4, 2015. You can click on this link to discover what general classes are being offered at FLOAT.
Who are teaching them? There are fourteen (14) different instructors leading our general class sessions at FLOAT. You can click on this link to learn who the general class instructors are.
How much do they cost? Nothing. They're included for FREE as part of your registration to the FLOAT Convention.
Do I need to pre-enroll? No. General classes at FLOAT are open to everyone, so just show up to the general class you want to take.
What if I don't like the class? Then get off your butt and go to another one! Your feet ain't nailed to the floor! :)
What are they? These are four-hour special classes offered on Sunday, February 1. One class is scheduled from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM and the other is scheduled from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM that day. You can click here to learn more about the content of the Master Classes being offered at FLOAT.
Who are teaching them? The classes are being taught by Dante Longhi, CBA, and Dianna Glandon, CBA, respectively. Their bios can be found by clicking this link.
How much do they cost? Master Classes are an additional fee of $50.00 each if you wish to take them and as long as you register for them before January 15, 2015. After that date, the price will increase to $65.00 per class. You can click on this link to register for the Master Classes.
Do I need to pre-enroll? Yes and no. You want to pre-enroll if you want to save money, but in theory you can sign up at the door. However, Dianna Glandon's Foil Balloon class has a maximum of 75 people, so I would absolutely pre-register for that one if you wish to take it.
What if I don't like the class? We will offer refunds on any Master Class as long as you leave the course within the first 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, you have now more than likely absorbed at least enough education to justify the expense, so you've now committed to the class and refunds are no longer an option. If you do leave the class and qualify for a refund, you may not reenter the class under any condition.
What are they? These are the 90-minute classes that are offered at four (4) different intervals throughout the FLOAT Convention. One session will be held on Monday, February 2, one session will be held on Tuesday, February 3, and two are held on Wednesday, February 4, 2015. You can click on this link to discover what Bonus Classes are being offered at FLOAT.
Who are teaching them? Bonus Classes are more commonly taught by regular attendees at the convention; at other conventions these are sometimes referred to as Private Classes. On the occasion, a sanctioned FLOAT instructor will also offer a bonus class, but this is not the norm. You can click here on this link to discover who is currently offering Bonus Classes at FLOAT.
How much do they cost? Bonus Classes are not part of the regular FLOAT academic schedule, and as such they carry an additional cost of $20.00 each.
Do I need to pre-enroll? No. You can absolutely sign up for Bonus Classes at FLOAT, but you must do so at the Registration Desk. Money will not be taken at the door. And there is no savings for enrolling early, so you can wait until the last minute if you prefer.
What if I don't like the class? We will offer refunds on any Bonus Class as long as you leave the course within the first 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, you will have made an official commitment to the class. If you do leave the class and qualify for a refund, you may not reenter the class under any condition.
Other Common Questions about FLOAT's Classes
Do I really have to register for FLOAT to take Master Classes? Can't I just pay for the Master Classes I want to take?
Yes, you do. No, you can't. You can sign up for a FLOAT Day Pass (available starting on December 1, 2014) but you'll still have to pay a fee to attend that day PLUS the cost of the class you wish to take.
You offer ten general class sessions, but have 27 different classes being offered...How do we take them all?
You can't. There's no way around it. But what you can do is purchase the Academic FLOATBook which will contain all the class notes from all the general class sessions. Those will begin going on sale on December 1, 2014.
Will you be videotaping any of the FLOAT classes? Or webcasting?
At this time, there are no official plans to offer either service, so you'll just have to get to FLOAT to learn from the best!
How can I teach a Bonus Class?
Submit your class proposal to Steve@FLOATConvention.com as soon as possible. Classes are subject to approval and we have limited spots available.
Are there any other educational opportunities at FLOAT?
